The Pratulin Martyrs

Thirteen Byzantine Catholic martyrs from Pratulin have recently been beatified. They were killed while defending their church from forcible seizure by the authorities during the Tsar's Russification program in 1874-5. Their entire village was destroyed and all the other inhabitants were executed. Their parish became Orthodox at that time but it returned to communion with the Holy See in 1927.
